The 2022 National Junior Trap team has been named after the selection part two competition took place at the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center at Kerrville, Texas, March 4-6.

“USA Shooting is proud of all the athletes that competed at the selection matches,” said USA Shooting COO Sharee Waldron. “We are excited to announce the 2022 Team that includes seasoned competitors along with up-and-coming bright stars.”

The junior women’s team consists of Ryann Phillips of Gail, Texas, who came in first with a score of 315, Sydney Krieger, of Cave Creek, Arizona, who earned second place by shooting 308, and Bethany High, from Camilla, Georgia, bronze medal winner who shot 306. Chantry Stermer, of Cebolla, New Mexico, earned the fourth place slot.

On the junior men’s team, Emilio Carvalho, of Tranquillity, California, came in first with a score of 333, Matthew Kutz, from Goliad, Texas, shot a 329, earning him 2nd place, and Lance Thompson, from Carlisle, Pensylvania, came in third with a score of 326. Grayson Davey, from Anchorage, Alaska, earned the fourth place slot.

“The dedication and commitment these young folks and their families have to the shooting sports bodes well for the future of our Olympic podiums,” said Waldron.  “We are looking forward to watching this team compete internationally.”

In the women’s under 18 category, Heidi Griner, from Florida, secured the gold medal with a score of 282, Taylor Dale, of Wisconsin, shot a 280 earning her a silver medal, and Shelby Sivadon, from Texas, won the bronze medal with a score of 272.

William Browning, from Ohio, won gold for men’s under 18 with a score of 313, followed by Owen Bin, of Texas, who shot a 312, and Tony Meola, from Florida who earned third place with a score of 308.

In the women’s under 15 category Micaela Velasquez, from Texas, earned gold with a score of 259. For the men’s under 15, Caleb Cutler, also from Texas, won a gold medal by shooting a 313, Augustus Armstrong, of California, secured himself a silver medal with a score of 303, and Ajay Jarrett, also from California, placed third with a score of 263.

The top three female and male team members will compete in the Germany Junior World Cup this May.

“We want to sincerely thank both Hill Country Shooting Sports and Tucson Trap and Skeet for hosting the 2022 junior Selection competitions,” said Waldron.

Next up is Skeet selection part two March 11-13 at Hill Country Shooting Sports Center in Kerrville, Texas.
